PACK 1313 CROSS OVER

SCOUTS TO ARRIVE AT 4:00PM

CROSS OVER AT 5:00 PM

Our Scouts will be crossing over the Bridge that the Boy Scouts built for the Blue and Gold Banquet. Crossing this bridge symbolizes advancing to the next level of Scouting. The look on the boys faces beaming with pride as they reach the end of the bridge is priceless. Please bring your still and video cameras to record the event.

How to get to the camping area at Mingo Creek County Park:

Follow Bebout towards Finleyville

Turn Left on Venetia Road

Turn Right on Sugar Run

Left on Little Mingo Creek Road (keep a lookout for the Giant Watering Can)

Right on Mingo Creek (Park Entrance)

Take the right at the "Y" following the signs to the Observatory

You will pass Shelter Ten on your left, keep going until you pass the tree line on your right

Turn right into the open field and park along the tree line.

The campsite is back in the woods.

If  you have any trouble call Jim Merdian’s cell phone: 724-825-1231

Tips:

The Scouts should wear their uniform for the ceremony(bring clothes to change in to)

We will proceed rain or shine. Think positive 68 and Sunny.

There is no electricity, there is a porta-potty.

Bring your own drinks and water.

If you have roasting forks or mountain pie makers please bring them.

We will have the kids scout the woods for marshmallow sticks

Please bring any outdoor games you would like to play. There is a large field and our friends at Pack 1374 may join us for some games.

The Observatory is having a stargazing party-weather permitting, feel free to walk up the hill and take a look.

If you have never been, it is a hidden gem in Western PA. There are usually quite a few amateur astronomers that bring their own powerful telescopes as well. They will line up on the hill leading to the main Observatory. 2 years ago we were fortunate enough to get a private tour and access to the telescope. We saw beautiful images of Saturn and it's rings in great detail.

If you have flashlights or glowsticks, please bring them as the kids will have a great time playing with them after dark.

Also, we are asking families to bring something to share for the cookout.

Last name beginning with A thru K please bring a covered dish or salad.

Last name beginning with L thru Z please bring an appetizer or dessert and a bag of snacks.

See you Saturday!

Cub Scout Pack 1313 began in 1991 and is chartered by
St. Benedict the Abbot Church.
Our Pack is actively supported by the Ben's Men.
We are associated with Boy Scout Troop 1313 also chartered by St. Benedict's.
We have many activities which are open to all members of our Pack.
We will be holding our annual Pinewood Derby in January.
In the spring, we are having our Blue and Gold Dinner and in May is the Family Camping weekend.
We are planning many more activities for the remainder of the year.

Future Scouts:
It's a great opportunity to learn cool new things, experience things you've only imagined (or seen on TV), have a blast
with your family and friends, and earn awards.

Future Scouting Parents:
This is your chance to teach your son invaluable lessons and instill good values. Research has shown that early involvement
in values-based programs is vital to strong character development. The longer a boy stays in Scouting, the more likely he is to
develop the values and skills needed to become an ethical and productive citizen.

Register Anytime:
Even though our Cub Scout programs start in September, you can join at any time of the year! We welcome new members year-round.
